Charlie Barnes : - launches video for 'Maria' ahead of Bastille tour
Charlie Barnes : - launches video for 'Maria' ahead of Bastille tour

Singer-songwriter and Bastille live member Charlie Barnes has launched a brand new video for the track ‘Maria’ ahead of his upcoming live dates opening for Bastille on their huge ReOrchestrated tour and subsequent EU headline tour in support of his new album ‘Oceanography’. The video was filmed during his recent headline UK tour,

and you can watch it here:

Charlie had this to say: “My good pal Ryan filmed a couple of the concerts I did with my good pals Ed and Ste, and we thought it would be nice to stick some of the footage together into a nice thing for the Internet. So he did. The concerts he filmed took place in Glasgow and Leicester, and they were lovely concerts indeed.”

He also recently launched a brand new interview where he discusses how he got the job with Bastille and his time on the road with them. Watch the interview here:

The follow up to 2015’s post-pop monster ‘More Stately Mansions’, ‘Oceanography’ finds Barnes in a different place in his life. The past two years have seen huge change for the musician, he has spent the majority of his time on the road as a touring member of Bastille, performing on some of the biggest stages in the world and travelling all over the globe as well as getting married and relocating from Leeds to the Midlands.

Speaking about the upcoming tour with his employers, Barnes said: “I’ve been jokingly referring to this tour as my couple of weeks of doing double shifts.  That would, of course, imply that any of what I’ll be doing during the ReOrchestrated tour could be considered work, and it’s anything but that.  Any opportunity I get to play my songs to people is a lovely thing, but to get to do so in such glorious surroundings as the halls we’re visiting for this tour is truly an honour.  Steve and I were joking when recording ‘The Weather’ for the new album, that we wanted it to sound like I was playing the song in a grand concert house, like the Royal Albert Hall or something.  Funny, that.  To top it off, I get to be involved in the performance of the beautifully reimagined versions of Bastille’s songs, along with a deluxe sized ensemble of proper musicians, and I really can’t wait for that.”
